George Town is the capital city of Penang, a culturally diverse region that offers an equally diverse selection of street food. You’ll find a dizzying array of different styles, flavors and textures, incorporating elements of traditional Chinese, Malay, Singaporean and Indian fare.

Only in Penang, for example, will you find curry mee — a Malay and Singaporean specialty featuring chili paste, mint, cockles, coconut broth, coagulated pork blood and tofu — with two different kinds of noodles: thin rice noodles as well as thick egg noodles.
